Participation as a driver of retention and engagement

participate = to be involved, join in, belong, contribute
Participation = Active involvement

Participation means that employees actively take part in company affairs and help shape its development. If you want to foster employee involvement, inform them about your goals and vision, and include them in decisions concerning their work. Show them trust and give them the opportunity to actively contribute their skills, experience, and ideas.

By involving employees in decision-making processes and giving them the opportunity to contribute and implement their own ideas, they feel valued and taken seriously. Active participation helps employees identify more strongly with the company and thus become more committed to our shared success. Company success becomes personal success – and vice versa.

A participatory corporate culture also creates the perfect breeding ground for innovation. Strong employee participation can give a tremendous boost to the company's creativity and progress.

When planning corresponding initiatives, a distinction must be made between

• the subject matter to which the participation relates – individual projects/processes or the entire organization, and

• the degree of co-determination – information rights, suggestion rights, co-determination rights, veto rights, complete autonomy

Participating in success also means reaping the rewards together. So don't forget to attribute company successes to ALL those who contributed to them.
